The incoming-message filter and outgoing rewrite tool start at Protect; call recording is Protect Plus only.

ParentPact charges per family. One parent subscribes and the other gets full access at no cost, on every tier.

Honest trade-offs

Where each app is stronger

Where BestInterest is stronger

  • Message Shield filters hostile language out of incoming messages before you read them, and keeps the original a tap away. Most co-parenting apps only check what the sender writes.
  • Works if your co-parent never joins: Solo Mode is on every plan, and Boundary Line (Connect and up) gives you a number your co-parent can text and call from their normal phone.
  • The Free plan never expires and runs on iOS, Android and the web.
  • Verified Reports can carry a Certificate of Authenticity that a reviewer checks against BestInterest's server copy.

Where ParentPact is stronger

  • One subscription covers both parents. One parent pays; the other gets full access at no cost.
  • Read receipts are mandatory for both parents, so "I never saw it" is never in dispute.

Which one is right for you

Who should choose which

Choose BestInterest if…

Choose BestInterest if your co-parent won't use an app, or if what you need most is hostile incoming messages filtered before you read them, and you are willing to pay $149.99 a year or more for that yourself.

Choose ParentPact if…

Choose ParentPact if you want one subscription to cover both parents, a tone check on every outgoing message even on the Free plan, read receipts that are always on, and in-app calls that are never recorded. AI rewrite suggestions start at $79.99 a year for the whole family, versus $149.99 a year per parent for BestInterest Protect.

Before you ask

BestInterest vs ParentPact: your questions

Does BestInterest filter the messages I receive?

Yes. On Protect and Protect Plus, Message Shield reviews incoming messages and can restate hostile ones in neutral language, with the original kept behind a tap. ParentPact works on the other end: its tone checker runs on the sender's message before it is sent and suggests a calmer rewrite.

Do both parents have to pay for BestInterest?

No. Each parent picks their own plan, and a linked co-parent can stay on Free. But each parent who wants paid features pays separately. ParentPact charges one price per family, and one parent's subscription covers both.

Can I use BestInterest if my co-parent won't join?

Yes. Solo Mode works on every plan, and Boundary Line (Connect and up) lets your co-parent text and call a BestInterest number from their normal phone. If your co-parent won't install any app, that is BestInterest's clearest advantage.

Does BestInterest record calls?

Protect Plus ($29.99 a month or $299.99 a year) can record supported calls once the user turns it on, and the user is responsible for consent laws. ParentPact Premium includes in-app calls with a permanent call log, and calls are never recorded.

Which is cheaper, BestInterest or ParentPact?

Both have a free plan. BestInterest's AI message tools (Message Shield and Tone Guardian) start at $149.99 a year for one parent, or $299.98 if both parents want them. ParentPact Plus, with AI rewrite suggestions, is $79.99 a year and covers both parents.

One record. One subscription. Both parents.

Tone-checked messages, a shared calendar, and court-ready exports, priced per family.
